Puppy love!
November 17, 2009
When we got chewie, Jim went straight to petsmart and got chewie a little monkey (big shocker
). Well that monkey is chewie’s favorite toy. He sleeps with it every night, and it goes everywhere with him. He has given his fair share of love (chewing) to the monkey. The monkey has fought a good war, and we can’t believe that he has completely destroyed it. As you can see both ears are gone, the stuffing is about to come out the back, but the squeaker is still intact.
I don’t know what we will do when it finally has its last breath. I think my favorite place that I have found the monkey was in a hole that chewie had dug in the backyard. I don’t know if chewie was planning on burying him, but in the hole the monkey went.
The Corgi Sprawl…
November 10, 2009
So it has been interesting in getting to experience the corgi sprawl. Jim told me about it but I didn’t believe it until I saw chewie do it for the first time.
I thought maybe he was just trying to cool his belly when he did it the first time on the tile, but then he started doing it everywhere. It is so funny to see his little legs just hanging out behind him and he will lay like this for hours. It seems to be his favorite way to lay! Here are just a couple of pictures of him in the infamous corgi sprawl.
New Found Freedom!!
November 6, 2009
We got a dog door this last week. Getting him through the door only took a few treats and both jim and I standing on both sides calling him. Chewie loves it, he know can come and go when he wants and doesn’t have to sit at the door scratching. We are hoping that soon we can let him sleep in the bedroom with us, but not confined to his kennel. It is so funny to hear the magnets click every time he comes and goes. He is growing up so quick, it is so interesting to see what he will learn to do each week. Next thursday he graduates from puppy class. He has learned so much, he learned shake finally. It took a few days to pick this one up but he has officially got it. Here are a few pictures of him figuring out the new door!

Walking…
November 2, 2009
We were looking forward to chewie getting his last set of shots so we could start taking him on a walk to let out a little bit of that puppy energy. Well walking has it good times and then we have our wild puppy times. We start out and he is just so excited, he is pulling us and wanting to just run. Well then we see someone and he just wants to speak to them very loudly. He wants to make sure everyone hears and sees him. Then we get to the second half of the walk and every lawn and he lays down(the picture below is him taking a little “rest”). We have to coax him with a treat to keep moving. Somehow we make it home, and you would think with him lying down every few seconds at the end that he is just exhausted, Well that is not the case he gets home and does “hot laps” he is running at full sprint around our couches and through tables, making figure 8’s. I don’t know where he get that burst of energy. But he does love going on walks, we get his collar and he goes crazy with excitement, and he is getting so much better.
Coming Home! Two months late!
October 29, 2009
Wow! We brought Chewie home with us two months ago! Where has the time gone. He has been such an amazing addition to our house. He brings so much personality and love into the home. The past two months have been a learning experience on how to have a puppy at home. Jim has learned what the early hours of the morning look like, and we have had to learn how to train him. We have made it through potty training days (cross your fingers)! He is getting better at the chewing, because he certainly lives up to his name. He has a couple of tricks up his paws, he has sit, down, stay, catch, and rollover completely and we are working towards shake. Jim is ecstatic for chewie to learn shake, he has been off and on trying to teach him that! Well that is a little synopsis of the past two months. I will continue to show you little excerpts of our life with our corgi!
